Ben and I woke up uber early (as in 2:30 AM) to climb the windy roads to the summit of Haleakala for sunrise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haleakal%C4%81) – which means “house of the sun.”  Getting to the 10,000 foot summit was an experience for both Ben and I- mostly Ben!  My stomach was so upset and let’s just say Ben got to see a new side of me along the way ;) When we finally made it to the top it was pitch black, 40 degrees (notice the sweet floral blankets in the pictures) and the stars were better than any planetarium I’ve EVER seen- full on with shooting starts and a full moon that was eye level.  Epic way to start the morning if I do say so myself!!
 
We perched ourselves on a lava mound, drank coffee and waited for the sun to come up- Ben was particularly chipper for being up so early! As the sun started to rise Ben got down on his knee, poetic words a flowin’ and asked me to marry him.  I of course said YES!!! It was truly an out of body experience!  I am so thankful to God for bringing such an amazing man into my life-  can’t wait to continue the journey with him!
